Announcing... Youth Day at Toast of Cobb

Join us on July 27, 2011 as we take a break from our regular meeting to have Youth Day, a 90-minute program designed with the purpose of introducing children to the virtues of learning at an early age to speak with confidence in any situation they may face. The community and especially children under age 18 are welcome to participate. Lunch will be served during a half time break, complements of the Toast of Cobb.

Planned is a fast pace, upbeat, and fun for everyone speaking experience that hopefully will change the way the youth in attendance look at the skill of speaking out loud (no texting here!), expressing themselves and also listening to others. Come out and participate in this fun meeting before school resumes next month!

What is Toastmasters?

Since 1924, Toastmasters International has been helping people from all walks of life improve their interpersonal communication skills and become more confident in their ability to organize their thoughts and give powerful oral presentations. The Toastmasters program enables each member to learn and develop at their own pace and is sure to help you become a better speaker and leader as well. Joining a Toastmasters club costs less than $2 a week. The experience you gain will most likely be priceless!

The Toast of Cobb Club has been meeting in North Cobb since 1998. Our members run the gamut from professionals to college students, as well as the self employed who prefer our daytime meeting so that everything else in their personal and family lives can have its rightful place. Our meetings include a variety of speeches, learning opportunities, special events, and making new friends. Our club meets in a very comfortable, speaker friendly facility; not somewhere in a sterile classroom or basement. We are a fun, friendly and supportive group who share the goal of helping each other grow and become more confident speakers and leaders.

Do you consider yourself to be shy? Keep in mind that almost everyone in Toastmasters was once at the level you are now. The Toastmasters environment is very friendly and inviting and our members are very supportive of each speaker's efforts. The self-paced program allows everyone to build confidence in themselves with each new speaking engagement.

Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you choose to give a prepared speech, a fellow member, serving as your evaluator, will point out your strengths and suggest areas of improvement. At first you’ll be applauded for your effort; later you’ll be applauded for your fast developing skills and confidence.
